My latest, security-related patent, Patent 6,202,933 "Transaction card and methods and apparatus therefor," issued on March 20, 2001.  I am always working on new articles, chapters of books, American National Standards (especially X9F), and one or more works of fiction (that may or may not ever see the light of day!).  Credits have included chapters in the Handbook of Information Security (Tipton et al. editors), the Generally Accepted System Security Principles, and articles in the National Law Journal, Computing Canada, Datamation, EDPACS, ISSA Password, and Auerbach’s Data Security Management series.

      Hobbies

As an active member of Toastmasters International, I’ve founded a chapter, served as Chapter President, served as Vice President of Public Relations in another chapter, served as District Realignment Committee Chairman, and served as an Area Governor.  I just completed my Advanced Toastmaster Bronze (ATMb) and have my Competent Toastmaster/Competent Leader (CTM/CL).

I enjoy science fiction including Babylon 5, Doctor Who, Star Trek, Star Wars, et al. Isaac Asimov is my favorite author. I am also a Certified Lay Speaker in my church and an Emmaus member. I enjoy both chess and bridge socially. I'm a member of Mensa and a host of other organizations, but since I have little time at all outside of work and family, I don't attend meetings on a regular basis.
